AbstractA 37-tonne "tank" with a 70-metre range of fire has been "head hunted" by the Airport Authority (AA) from Hong Kong International Airport at Kai Tak. The Royal Hong Kong Police Force had to clear the roads for this tremendous "tank" to travel to Chek Lap Kok. The "tank" is, in fact, a foam tender, an advanced type of fire engine. In February or March 1997 Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department will begin carrying out calibration flights at Chek Lap Kok to test the instrument landing system. This foam tender will stand by during these flights.
