| Abstract | Instead of English, Cantonese will be used as the medium of instruction for most secondary schools from September 1998, according to the Consultation Document Arrangements for Firm Guidance. In this article, Wong So Yuk Ming, an education planning and research officer of the Education Department, Au Pak Kuen, vice president of the Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union, Liang Kang, principal of Madam Lau Kam Lung Secondary School, a student of the Black Campus of Hong Kong Institute of Education, and Dr. Chan Bing Cho, head of the Department of Chinese at the Grantham Campus of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, express their opinions about such change. |
