| Abstract | Accurate (equal to the true value) and precise (reproducible) measurement of serum cholesterol is essential for assessment of cardiovascular risk, monitoring hypolipidaemic therapy and secondary prevention of atherosclerosis as well as for epidemiological research and clinical trials. The project on "standardization of cholesterol measurement" was started in 1995. The objectives were to (1) improve the accuracy of cholesterol measurement in Hong Kong, and (2) provide advice and technical support to local laboratories. This is the abstract of a study which focuses on the development of the project in Hong Kong. |
