| Abstract | The first international diamond exchange centre in China is expected to be declared a free-trade zone and open for trading by the year 2000 in Shanghai. Overseas companies are allowed to establish wholly-owned sales offices in the centre and import, manufacture and trade diamonds, gemstones and jewellery with companies in China without paying import duty. |
