| Abstract | Despite an abrupt drop in Hong Kong's inflation rate in 1996, it is only a temporary phenomenon, according to a report released by the bank of East Asia's Economic Research Department. Transient factors behind 1997's lower price rises - notably slower increases in housing rentals - are ending and will cause the inflation rate to moderately rebound. |
