| Abstract | This article features the design of Broadway Cinematheque, which is located in Yau Ma Tei. The project was looked upon as part of a drive to redevelop a run-down area, thus the cinema was to have something of a welfare function. The architect took these divergent starting points, which they summarised as 'dirty realism' and 'refuge', as the basis for the design. |
