| Abstract | Like other sectors, the public sector has also evolved into an environment with a strong emphasis on transparency and accountability. Thus an improvement in the mechanisms used to ensure more uniform accounting practices and standards, and to facilitate communication and discussion within the sector is required. To help meet this need, the Management Accounting Committee (MAC) of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants decided to set up the Public Sector Interest Group (PSIG) in March 1995 under the auspices of the MAC. |
