AbstractEnvironmental groups, like the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Conservancy Association and Green Power, cooperate closely with officials, legislators and even companies whose activities may blot the landscape. But the altered political landscape of post-handover Hong Kong could upset this neat arrangement. The consensual style is fine for a government relatively receptive to conservation issues. This article explains why the incoming administration of chief executive designate Tung Chee Hwa may be less so.
