Article TitleBarrie Ho's Orientalism.
Is Part OfHinge ; v.32, [1997], p.16, illus.
AbstractArchitect Barrie Ho declares that in his manifestation of Orientalism, he believes oriental culture and civilisation could be revitalised to dismantle the Western dominance. Strong claims indeed, and refreshing when the majority of Hong Kong students and young architects look to Western idols of the past; Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and present; Norman Foster, Frank Gehry etc as role models. Ho describes his epiphanic rediscovery of the value of the Oriental culture as a culmination of his experience in the bifocal education system and culture of Hong Kong.
