| Abstract | The Patient Resource Centre is a recent establishment by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 1993 as a supporting department for promoting patient self-help groups and catering for the psychosocial needs of patients. In order to promote community partnership and to extend the services of the Patient Resource Centre, a volunteer service management system was proposed and has met the approval from the hospital. Volunteer services in the Patient Resource Centre provides an opportunity for the public to assume the role of carer to give care and concern to the needy patients and their families. The volunteer can also apply their professional knowledge and expertise to provide comprehensive services for patients. |
