AbstractDennis Lau is chairman, and managing director, of one Hong Kong's largest architectural firms - Dennis Lau & Ng Chun Man. He joined the company, then called Ng Chun Man & Associates, back in 1972. Over the next 20 years, Mr Lau gradually worked his way up the company and today heads some 300 staff who are involved in projects throughout the region and mainland China. In China, he gives himself a task, a long-term goal, to play a part in its modern architecture. He has said he has Chinese blood in his veins and he wants to be a pioneer in developing good Chinese architecture there. What he hopes to achieve in China is a careful, and thoughtful, blend of Eastern and Western elements. This article talks about his beliefs and his various designs.
