AbstractWith the opening of Chek Lap Kok airport, Tsuen Wan, a middle-aged New Town will suddenly be more central than Central. One of the first manifestations of the Tsuen Wan gold rush is Discovery Park, a joint venture by Hong Kong Resorts and New World Development on the former China Dyeing Works site on Castle Peak Road. Discovery Park accommodates 3,360 flats in twelve 40-storey blocks above a shopping centre in a podium which covers the whole site. This site has the great advantage of intimate proximity to the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) station, to which it will be linked by an air-conditioned pedestrian footbridge. This article features the design of the project.
