| Abstract | The new Western Harbour Crossing (WHC) is expected to open in April 1997, easing cross-harbour tunnel traffic and bringing relief to motorists who now have to put up with long queues near the tunnel entrances. According to Bob Adams, chairman of the Western Harbour Tunnel Company (WHTC), the Western Harbour Crossing is a major addition to Hong Kong's transport system, which will benefit drivers, users of public transport and companies using vehicles in business. The WHC will mark a quarter century of cross-harbour road transport. The number of vehicles crossing Hong Kong's harbour could double within the next 10 to 15 years. |
