| Abstract | At the end of 1993, the Xiamen digital data network (XMDDN), the first of its kind in Fujian province, was completed in parallel with the Xiamen local packet switched data network (XMPAC). These newly built data networks have greatly improved data communications in the city of Xiamen, bringing the city to the leading edge of data communications in the province, laid the foundation of the city's information highway and provided a communications platform for the economic development and information interchange of the Xiamen Special Economic Zone. |
