Abstract | The brewing of cellular mobile telephone service in Guangdong province dates back in 1986, in view of the investment scale and capital reclamation issues. At that time the network capacity estimate for the base stations was taken for a period of three years only, it was conceived that there could be no onerous work for capacity expansion from time to time; on the other hand, however, expansion for switching systems was not a trivial work, especially for the central processing unit (CPU), therefore the designed capacity was for ten years use. This article, based on Guangdong experience, provides a discussion on the issue. |
