Abstract | A list of some 44 items purported to be the major remaining major pieces of legislation on the Hong Kong government's agenda up until June 30, 1997. The Basic Law stipulates that the provisions shall be enacted by the Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government on its own; not the British Hong Kong Government, nor indeed the Central Government of China. In November 1996, the colonial regime announced comprehensive new and fast-track legislation to cover treason, subversion, secession and sedition. This issue is further discussed in this article. |
