| Abstract | As of the end of September 1996, China's total telephone switching capacity reached 100 million lines with 64,835 million telephone sets in use, bringing the telephone density to 5.8% in the whole country and 19% in cities. While expanding in scale and quantity, China's telecom network has also undergone qualitative changes as far as technological level is concerned. |
