Abstract | To give a concise but perhaps oversimplified definition, virtual reality is the simulation of a real-life scene or environment by a computer. Sometimes, it is called visual computing which stresses on the visual aspect of it. Recently, the name experiential computing is suggested to emphasis the simulation of real-life experience by the technology. Although the original idea of virtual reality came from the United States, it has already landed in Hong Kong for some time. For instance, the Mass Transit Railway utilizes this technology to train drivers of the New Airport Railway. |
