Abstract | Many members who have visited the Botanical Gardens in the mid-levels will have been distressed to see the cramped quarters of the two resident jaguars. A new, larger HK$5.2 million enclosure had been constructed for the animals. Executive Director Doreen Davies and Dr Bradley from the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) visited the enclosure. Dr Bradley was impressed with its well thought-out enclosure, with different systems for the animals to explore. At around 600 square metres, however, the space is hardly equivalent to the jaguars' natural habitat. |
