Abstract | According to official industry statistics, by the year 2010, more than 50 percent of the world's 736 million international airline passengers will be flying to, from and within the Asia-Pacific region. The figure excludes mainland China. Eager not to be left behind in the international push for a piece of the Asian travel pie, airlines across the region are beefing up their aircraft, their operations, their air miles and their marketing plans. Non-Asian airlines are also going for their share of the region's travel pie. Further analysis is given in this article. |
