AbstractThe Hong Kong Housing Society (HS) is to construct some 500 'mini' flats by the year 2000. The units are designed for people over the age of 60 and will be marketed as a 'life-time' package. The "lease for life" concept would entitle tenants to a lump sum payment if they elected to move out at a future point. As for purchase, the flats would be marked down to half market price but resale would be restricted.
