| Abstract | When it comes to romance, Hong Kong films usually heap on the melodrama. So it's no surprise to find that the last hour of this urban love saga oozes three hankie sap. But an accomplished, oftentimes very wry script and an actorly perfomance from Maggie Cheung manage to raise Comrades - Almost A Love Story above the standard-issue goo.
