| Abstract | The Art Museum at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is celebrating its 25th anniversary in November 1996, and on top of that it is the 15th anniversary of the Friends of the Art Museum - without whom the istitution's reputation could not have reached such heights. Just as the museum itself is a celebration of culture and knowledge, so is the anniversary observance. The Friends of the Art Museum has organised a major symposium, New Studies in Chinese Art and Antiquities, for which leading scholars are flooding into the territory from China, Taiwan, the US and Europe to join those in Hong Kong. The forum will disclose and discuss the latest research on Chinese art and antiquities. Topics will include jades, bronzes, ceramics and textiles and painting and calligraphy, and some of the world's most renowned scholars will be on hand to express their opinions. |
