Abstract | A number of mainland newspapers will begin moves to abolish the three-tier rate system early in 1997, reflecting reforms which have been taking place in China's television industry in 1996. Guangzhou's Yangcheng Wanbao, Shanghai's Jiefang Daily and the Tianjin Daily are among the newspapers which have announced their intention to move to a single-tier rate system, while others such as Shanghai's Xinmin Wanbao will reduce from a three-tier to a two-tier system. |
