| Abstract | Oval Partnership has just won a competition in Taiwan to design a new town in Asia. The project, for Wu Shi Harbour, is actually an extension of Tau Cheng Town, situated in the northern part of Yi Lan province, Taiwan. The Central and Local Government intended to develop the coastal area into a large scale fishing port. However, in view of the increasing affluence and changing lifestyle of the Taiwanese they thought that the development should capitalise on the natural environment to create not only a fishing port but also a scenic tourist spot. Whether this idea is implemented as a whole is another matter. In Christopher Law's opinion, masterplanning should be seen as an architectural process rather than a self-contained project. |
