| Abstract | The Minor Employment Claims Adjudication Board (MECAB), established by the Labour Department in December 1994, adjudicates minor wages claims (the ceiling is currently $5,000) when settlement of such disputes cannot be achieved through conciliation within the department's Labour Relations Service. In processing some of the less straightforward cases, the author thinks the brain of Sherlock Holmes and the wisdom of Judge Pao are needed. Two examples are provided to help explain what he means. |
