| Abstract | The Jockey Club Environmental Building, the new headquarters of the Centre of Environmental Technology, was required to satisfy the organisation's own rigorous environmental criteria. For Simon Kwan & Associates, satisfying these requirements involved drawing on environmental wisdom accumulated through the ages. Kwan sought not to demonstrate how technology can improve a building's environmental performance but rather to design a building with intrinsic environmental qualities. This article looks at how the architect applies the new design to the building to meet the environmental protection requirements. |
