AbstractMalaysia's imports of diamonds in 1995 decreased 14.7 percent to US$137.18 million from US$160.86 million in 1994, figures from the Department of Statistics in Kuala Lumpur show. Director of Sugem in Hong Kong, Bhupen Surani, said imports from Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore in 1995 increased substantially because most companies in India established sales offices in these countries and areas since 1992. The statistics of Malaysia's imports, exports and re-exports of diamonds and polished diamonds in 1994 and 1995 are shown in this article.
