| Abstract | The subject of corporate governance has been under continuous public debate for more than two decades. Whenever corporate behaviour or action appears out of line public attention focuses upon it; in the financial press, at shareholders' meetings, at the hands of regulators and in parliament. Born out of scandal and corporate mismanagement, the West's preoccupation with corporate governance has filtered through to Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Society of Accountants is taking the initiative to organise a seminar on comparative corporate governance, distinguishing cultural and other differences in the practice of corporate governance in the West, Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China. |
