| Abstract | It has been an intense year for chess players in Hong Kong. At the Hong Kong Championships in March 1996, competition was particularly keen as members of the Hong Kong Chess Federation battled it out for a place on the territory's team in the 32nd Chess Olympiad, which took place in September 1996. However, poor funding may mean stalemate for international chess in Hong Kong. The author has interviewed some of the key players. |
