AbstractHong Kong's strategic importance in the region depends on its trading supremacy. Alert to the growing competition from South China as well as from its established rivals, the Hong Kong government continues to promote developments that enhance trade - container terminals, air cargo facilities, the upgrading of stations and high speed rail connections. Presently, the focus is on the expansion of Hong Kong's Convention and Exhibition Centre. The project clearly has significance for the government is funding all HK$4.8 billion of it, from reclamation through to project management. This article outlines the new architectural design of the Centre.
