| Abstract | This article introduces "The School Management Initiative - setting the framework for quality in Hong Kong schools" published by the Education and Manpower Branch and the Education Department early in 1995, a school management framework which could lead to effective schools was proposed. In order to coordinate with and assist schools to implement the School Management Initiative (SMI), the Education Department is launching a regular publication "SMI Quarterly", with the objective of disseminating the message of the Advisory Committee on the School Management Initiative, introducing developments in the SMI, promoting the exchange of views amongst schools participating in the scheme, and at the same time enabling other schools to have more information and enhance their awareness of the scheme. |
