Abstract | Economic cooperation across the Taiwan Strait should not be affected by political differences between the two sides, stressed by President Jiang Zemin when he welcomed a group of prominent Taiwan scholars and public figures from the island's industrial and commercial circles, who were in Beijing for an investment seminar. Calling for greater efforts to accelerate the pace of cross-strait economic exchanges, Jiang noted that people from both sides of the strait are of the same ancestry. Therefore, Taiwan industrialists have obvious advantages in undertaking business on the mainland. |
