AbstractThe article mainly reviews the treatment result of patients with superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The retrospective case notes are reviewed by the Surgical Department of Caritas Medical Centre. Seventy patients with superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder treated during a ten-year period are used as the samples. As a result the majority (64/70) had their disease under control with transurethral resection. Transurethral resection is an effective treatment for superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. However, it must be emphasized that careful initial patient assessment and regular long-term follow-up by cystoscopy are important aspects in the management of these patients.
