| Abstract | Traditionally drug information service is product-oriented with little clinical consideration. A truly clinically-oriented drug information service should emphasize on how the replies could contribute to patient drug therapy. In the pharmacy department of Kwong Wah Hospital, drug information retrieval service is provided. The pharmacists try to understand the reasons why the drug information question was raised in the first place.Instead of just providing a simple, straight forward reply, they would explore if there are any hidden queries for which relevant information could help solve a problem. If warranted and time permits, they would visit the ward to have a better understanding of the clinical situation. They would then present their reply so to assist the inquirer in patient management. |
