Abstract | In China, as elsewhere, nurses are called "angels in white" because they personify care, youth and energy. However, to the nurses themselves, works are exhausting, ill-paid, thankless and with poor welfare benefits - so much so that many of them have left the profession. As a result, hospitals nationwide are now short of nurses. Experts say that to attract more people to the profession, China has to change its old concept of nursing, and put more efforts in improving the training, working conditions and housing and other benefits for nurses. |
