| Abstract | Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has returned to Kuala Lumpur from yet another visit to the Chinese capital both to renew friendship with the many leaders he has known and also to take part in a crucial Sino-Malaysian dialogue. Several major political issues were raised. Human rights and environmental protection were discussed and, as Premier Li Peng noted, some Western countries have used China and Malaysia as tool to impose pressure on the developing countries in an attempt to safeguard their own interests. Other essential matters, particularly those pertaining to economy and bilateral and regional cooperation are also brought up. |
