Abstract | In the 50 years since the war, Hong Kong's population has been increasing at the rate of 1 million per decade. Once there were comments that Hong Kong would sink under this increase. In this article, the author expresses his views on Hong Kong's overpopulation. He examines whether Hong Kong is having too many people and if a limit should be set. He also wonders if there will be a day when Hong Kong can no longer accommodate the increase. He remarks that Hong Kong has no long-term policy on population, but in face of abrupt changes in population size and quality, it is necessary to have a flexible planning strategy to guarantee long-term development. |
