Abstract | It's now 18 months since some colourful and often amusing postcards first made their appearance in cafes and bars in Hong Kong. The casual drinker, oenophile or diner can amuse himself by taking a free postcard from racks in 23 places around town and pen a few lines. Catering to this trend is a brash new advertising venture, which unlike most advertising, offers amusement and functionality - with just a hint of soft sell. And as Hong Kong was livening up with a range of coffee shops, from tiny street-side vendors of first-class coffees to the more grandiose restaurants, it had become the focus of such new idea. |
