| Abstract | In 1987 the Binhai Chemical Fibre Plant in Binhai county of Jiangsu province ordered equipment and production facilities from an Italian textile machine builder for US$1,250,000. The equipment, known as Model Microfil 4/32, was for spinning polypropylene fibre. After installation it was found to be not functioning properly, failing to produce the required quality of polypropylene filament. A long battle among the fibre plant, the Italian supplier and its Hong Kong agent had since begun. |
