| Abstract | To upgrade technology in the textile industry, foreign investment has been a major source of the necessary funding, besides contributions from the central government. However for joint venture textile plants with foreign partnership the foreign partners mostly contribute capital goods instead of cash. In theory this arrangement should be effective, in that production might start immediately, but from lack of experience and technological expertise, the Chinese partners are frequently victimised by the foreign investors. |
