AbstractThe new China Club Beijing, which will be completed by the end of 1996, occupies the 400-year-old buildings of a small royal palace near the Forbidden City in Beijing originally built in the Qing Dynasty for a descendant of the Emperor Kang Xi. For the past 35 years, the premises have been operated as The Beijing Sichuan Restaurant, and reputedly a favourite of Deng Xiao Ping. The design of the Club is introduced in this article.
