| Abstract | Nowhere on Hong Kong Island has changed more dramatically over the past decade than Wan Chai. No longer Central's poor cousin, the district has sprouted gleaming high-rise shopping malls and office complexes, the Academy for Performing Arts and Asia's tallest building, the 78-storey Central Plaza. Against this backdrop, Wan Chai will soon boast Hong Kong's newest landmark building: the extension to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, scheduled for completion in mid-1997. |
