| Abstract | During the first half of 1995 prices of ramie raw materials remained high, and did not start to fall slightly until the end of the year. World demand for ramie goods rose in 1994 to record levels, and domestic demand was equally strong. From 1996 export tax rebate on ramie textiles will be lowered from 17% to 6% for yarn, and to 9% for fabrics, which will affect the profitability of the ramie textile plants. These are now beginning therefore to explore further the domestic market for ramie goods. |
