| Abstract | For the Asian teams competing in the XXVI Olympiad, China has firmly replaced Japan as the predominant Olympic force. Its commitment to a government-backed, disciplined training regimen coupled with a huge population from which to cull its competitors has propelled it to the top ranks of international competition. And it has spread its victories across many fields; Chinese teams are competing in 24 of Atlanta's 31 different sports. |
