AbstractHong Kong has been very slow in responding to the STS (science-technology-society) trend in science education. Only until recently has there been some development in this direction in the Chemistry and Biology courses. However, the Physics course, at both the CE (Certificate of Education) and AL (Advanced Level) levels, has remained adamant. This paper presents three Physics STS teaching units: (1) How physics helps with the building of the Eastern Harbour Crossing; (2) Falling objects can kill; and (3)Why change 200 V to 220 V?
