AbstractDespite the great amount of effort devoted to the analysis of classroom environment in Western countries, there are not many studies of this kind on Asian students. Actually, the Hong Kong classroom has its particular features. It has a large size and is crowded. In addition, the curriculum is examination driven and modern Chinese parents place great emphasis on the achievement of their children. Great emphasis is laid on lecturing, role-learning and preparation for in-school and public examinations in the Hong Kong classroom.
