| Abstract | In September 1993, it was announced that the Government of the Republic of Ghana, state-owned Ghana Consoidated Diamonds Limited, De Beers and Lazare Kaplan International Inc. had reached an agreement, subject to Parliamentary ratificaton and a feasibility study, to form a new company to acquire, expand and operate the Akwatia and neighbouring Birim River diamond and gold concessions held by Ghana consolidated Diamonds. |
