Abstract | With Basel out of the way, admittedly with less than the results hoped for, jewellery manufacturers settle down to the long, hot summer trying to bolster flagging trade. Opinions are mixed: some continue to blame various economies, while others feel people will buy if the design is right. In the gemset sector, several local manufacturers are interviewed to talk about trends in this sector (excluding diamonds). Europe is the major disappointment, in terms of whole markets, the United States seems to be holding steady, while there is interesting but spotty business in Asia. |
