AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to review and discuss the literature on age-related differences in second language acquisition (SLA), with a view to obtaining insights which might inform the decision-making in Hong Kong. An attempt will also be made to draw on research findings from bilingual education which may be important factors to take into consideration when deciding on the optimal starting age for English Language instruction for Hong Kong's primary students.
